THE INTERRELATION OF THE THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SILVER.

Abstract

An analytical study was made of the interrelation of thermal, optical, and electrical properties of materials. The study was concerned with a review of the basic physical equations pertaining to the properties of emissivity, refractive index, and absorption coefficient; a review of the interrelation of these properties with electric conductivity and electric permittivity; and the use of equations with extrapolation techniques to calculate additional data. The equations and methods, together with the data available in the technical literature for the noble metal silver, were then applied to determine emissivity over a broad range of frequencies and temperatures.
