INVESTIGATION OF A PRINCIPLE FOR AN ASW SURFACE-WAVE CORRELATOR.

Abstract

An investigation was made to develop methods for calculating the effect on statistical measures of the ocean surface gravity wave pattern which is caused by the presence of a submerged body. To this end, an approximate scattering function is obtained, and the analytical determination of the effect on statistical measures is carried out in a certain degree of generality. As a specific case, a type of statistical measure is found for which explicit formulas giving the effect due to the submerged body is derived. (Author)
