LABORATORY TESTS OF SMALL LIGHTWEIGHT ALTITUDE TRANSMISSION EQUIPMENT (SLATE).

Abstract

The performance characteristics of Small Lightweight Altitude Transmission Equipment (SLATE) were determined through laboratory tests. A description of the SLATE components is given, and the test procedures and results are presented. Test results indicated that design changes would be required in order to achieve the desired performance. It was concluded that the production of suitable small lightweight altitude transmission equipment is feasible; and it was recommended that the FAA promote, within the general aviation community, the use of SLATE-type equipment.
