A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF THE DYNAMICAL STABILITY OF TOWED MODELS,

Abstract

The equations of motion of an underwater model with several different strut combinations are developed. All forces including strut and hydrodynamic forces are enumerated, and the criteria for determining dynamical stability are indicated. The methods for obtaining all the constants necessary for a stability determination are outlined. Recommendations are made for carrying out a test program to check the validity of the theory involved. (Author)
