TYPHOON WEATHER MODELS. KADENA AB, OKINAWA.

Abstract

Synoptic models are developed to relate the maximum surface wind gusts, lowest flying weather conditions, and six-hour rainfall amounts at Kadena AB, Okinawa to the positions and intensities of typhoons. Both the mean and 90% highest values are given for the wind speeds and rainfall amounts. Independent testing indicates that these models can be used to prepare realistic and consitent terminal forecasts of typhoon produced weather at Kadena.
