INTEGRATED MATERIEL MANAGEMENT,

Abstract

Much effort has been devoted to the study of materiel management, addressing such subjects as demand prediction, flyaway kits, stockage policy, depot repair operations, provisioning, and inventory control. One conclusion drawn from this experience is that support performance can be improved by establishing an integrated and responsive support structure. There are two general questions to be answered: How to integrate support operations, and, How responsive should the system be. The paper reviews the support problem and the method used to integrate support operations. The paper discusses the nature and value of system response and the implication of these results for Air Force support operations. (Author)
