MODEL TESTS OF A ROUND-BILGE BOAT WITH AND WITHOUT THE SNADECKI LONGITUDINAL STRAKES,

Abstract

A model of a round-bilge boat was tested for resistance, with and without Snadecki-type longitudinal strakes. In general, for the conditions tested, the addition of the strakes caused an increase in resistance. However, at very high speeds, and with the CG in an aft position, some reduction in resistance was obtained. Further effects of adding the strakes were to decrease the running trim and to increase the CG rise of the model. (Author)
