GRAPHICAL METHODS FOR DETERMINING THE PLASTIC SHELL-BUCKLING PRESSURES OF RING-STIFFENED CYLINDERS SUBJECTED TO EXTERNAL HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE.

Abstract

The solutions of Reynolds and Lunchick for the plastic shell-buckling pressure of stiffened cylinders subjected to external hydrostatic pressure are presented in graphical form. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the use of the curves for calculating failure in the asymmetric (lobar) mode and in the axisymmetric mode. (Author)
