IDENTIFICATION OF AEROSOL PROPELLANTS IN PAINT PRODUCTS BY GAS-LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY.

Abstract

Aerosol packaged paint products have gained widespread acceptance in recent years. Because of safety and toxicity factors, the type of propellant employed is of vital importance. The report describes a rapid, specific procedure for the identification of propellants using gas-liquid chromatography. A chilled can of paint is sprayed into a test tube and the atmosphere above the liquid is sampled. The analysis is conducted on silicone grease and porous polymer columns. (Author)
