DALLAS/FT. WORTH REGIONAL AIRPORT SIMULATION STUDY.

Abstract

Simulation studies of a plan developed for the control of air traffic when a proposed Regional Airport is operational were conducted. The simulation was conducted using the Model A and Model B Dynamic Air Traffic Control Simulators. Six different combinations of runway usage were tested in evaluating the plan. It was concluded that the plan as modified was capable of accommodating the 1980 traffic during a north or south traffic flow. However, during a northwest or southeast traffic flow this capability did not exist. It was also concluded that the location and associated runway alignment of the proposed Regional Airport and the proposed VORTACs were compatible to the overall terminal area IFR traffic flow. It was recommended that consideration be given to using the modified plan for the control of air traffic when the proposed Regional Airport is operational. (Author)
