EVALUATE TACAN SEPARATE SQUITTER SOURCE.
Abstract
A modification for the R-865 and R-865A/GRN-9C receivers was tested. The modification was designed to eliminate DME false replies at certain TACAN enroute navigation aid facilities. It was concluded that the modification would eliminate the DME false reply problem but at a cost of decreased receiver sensitivity of about 2 to 3 dBm for the units tested. (Author)
