HEAT CONDUCTION IN SOLIDS.

Abstract

The report completes the comprehensive review of the present status of thermal conductivity in solids. The first part of the review is contained in USAELRDL Technical Report 2361, May 1963, where we have presented a general discussion of the field with emphasis on thermal conductivity in insulators (dielectric solids), and where certain aspects of thermal conductivity in metals, alloys, and semiconductors were considered. More specific considerations of thermal conductivity in metals, alloys, and semiconductors, as well as contacts and junctions, are presented. Also, the experimental methods and techniques used in measuring the thermal conductivity in solids and the theory underlying the measurements are discussed.
