BALL LIGHTNING,

Abstract

With this article by G. S. Teletov, we open a discussion of the nature of ball lightning. The editors consider it of considerable interest to review the properties of ball lightning and the hypotheses that have been advanced to explain them. The author's own hypothesis assumes the existence of an unusual state of matter still being studied by modern science. As the author himself notes, one must resort to such hypotheses only when the more customary explanations have been exhausted. In a later issue of this journal an article will be published setting forth another hypothesis closer to the usual concepts. (Author)
