DEVELOPMENT OF MAGNESIUM FLAT CELL BATTERY.
Abstract
The third and fourth series of five cell stacks were assembled using AZ21Z1 magnesium alloy anode plates. Six lots were made in each series; trials included variations in magnesium bromide and magnesium perchlorate electrolyte concentration, increased quantities of both types of electrolyte and the addition of an organic gum binder in the dry mix using each type of electrolyte. Initial (stacks one week old) and delayed capacity results on the third series are presented on both BA-399 drain and 600 ohms/5-Continuous drain tests. Delayed capacity performance on the second series of stacks assembled are given when discharged on both of the above drains. The effects of storage time and storage temperature on capacity maintenance and delayed action are given. (Author)
