CONCENTRATION OF STRESSES IN A SPHERICAL SHELL NEAR A SQUARE HOLE,

Abstract

A solution is given of the problem concerning stress concentration near a square hole in a round shell. The shell is subjected to uniform internal pressure of intensity p and weakened by a square hole with rounded corners. The basic stressed state is a zero-torque one and the opening is covered by a lid which transmits only the transverse force.
