EXPERIMENTS ON THE EFFECTS OF ADDITIVES ON THE INTENSITY OF SPECTROGRAPHIC LINES OF SOME METALLIC ELEMENTS.
Abstract
Organic compounds were tested for their effect on the intensities of the spectral lines of metallic elements. Among the organic compounds tested were some containing halogens, nitrogen, and sulfur. Experiments were also conducted with non-metallic additives, such as inorganic sulfides, acids and oxides. It was found that the different additives tested did not produce a significant difference in the intensities of the lines of such typical metals as aluminum, antimony, barium, bismuth, copper, calcium, chromium, lead, magnesium, silver, and tin.
