MODE CONVERSION METHODS FOR STRIP TRANSMISSION LINE NON-RECIPROCAL DEVICES.
Abstract
The electromagnetic field requirements for obtaining non-reciprocity with ferrites in TEM-mode strip transmission lines are briefly discussed. The devices discussed use electron spin resonance for obtaining non-reciprocity. The requirement for circular polarization is pointed out and three simple linear-to-circular polarization conversion methods are developed. Test of the three circuits is described and the results from 8 to 12.4Gc. are presented in detail. It is concluded that moderate isolation is attainable over at least octave bandwidths and good isolation (greater than 20 db.) is attainable over at least 10-percent bandwidths. Recommendations for future investigations are included. (Author)
