PROPOSAL FOR A SHOCK-TUBE FACILITY TO SIMULATE SONIC BANGS.

Abstract

The report proposes the use of a shock-tube facility to simulate sonic bangs for the study of their effects. The basic philosophy of such a facility is propounded from theoretical considerations, substantiated by some pilot experimental studies. It is suggested that a detailed design of a facility based on the proposals should now be made. This will require the solution of a number of technical problems, which are listed. (Author)
