ANALYSIS OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS OF FAA

Abstract

An analysis of the scientific and technical information requirements of the FAA is presented. An inventory of the library services now offered by the Headquarters library and other library or library-related functions throughout the Agency was conducted. Management and non-management personnel were surveyed by questionnaire. Top-management personnel were also interviewed in-depth. Recommendations are made based upon the results obtained from data analyses. These recommendations reflect the stated needs of the Agency personnel, and requirements felt necessary to improve Agency technical effectiveness over the next five years and in the predicted technological environment of the 1970's.
