PROJECT STARDUST.

Abstract

Work performed on Project Stardust during October 1965 to September 1966 is reviewed. The current sampling and analytical programs are summarized. Descriptions are given of the stratospheric distributions of strontium-90, manganese-54, cadmium-109 and carbon-14 from pre-1963 nuclear weapon tests, of plutonium-238 from the burnup of a SNAP-9A power source in April 1964, of daughter products of radon, and of fission products from the 9 May 1966 Chinese nuclear explosion. Recent measurements of carbon-14 in surface air in northern New Jersey are presented. (Author)
