TEMPERATURE AND SHRINKAGE (CURING) STRESSES IN THICKWALLED REINFORCED CYLINDER BONDED TO A RIGID CASE.

Abstract

It is demonstrated by the analysis of a circumferentially reinforced orthotropic elastic thick-walled cylinder bonded to a rigid core and subject to homogeneous shrinkage that the increase in the intensity of the radial tensile stresses as a result of the circumferential reinforcement will produce circumferential delamination unless the tensile strength of the binder matrix is substantially increased.
