EXPERIENCE ON MASS VACCINATION OF HUMANS WITH LIVE COMBINED TYPHUS FEVER VACCINE FROM THE 'E' STRAIN OF RICKETTSIA PROWAZEKI,
Abstract
In the test of the mass vaccination of persons with the live combined typhus vaccine E (1610 persons) 2.6% of those inoculated displayed late reactions. The reactogenicity of young persons (18--25 years old) to inoculation with ZhKSV-E in comparison with ZhSV-E was 3 times lower (correspondingly 3.7 and 12.2%. The degree of expression of late reactions in persons inoculated with combined vaccine E (in relation to the entire number inoculated) was as follows: In 0.4% of those inoculated the late reactions proceeded without an increase of temperature, in 1.1% - with a subfebrile temperature, in 1% of those inoculated late reactions of moderate severity were observed, and in 0.12% - strong reactions. The duration of the manifestation of late reactions was as follows: In 0.56% of the inoculated persons the late reactions lasted one day, in 1% of those inoculated - 2 days, in 0.62% - 3 days, and in 0.37% - 4 days. There were no late reactions lasting more than 5 days. The reactogenicity (late) of prepared combined typhus vaccine E does not differ from such a combined typhus vaccine prepared ex tempore prior to the inoculations. Based on the RSK, in the test on the vaccination of persons with the ZhKSV-E a good immunogenicity for the vaccine was revealed in 98%. Based on the antibody titers in the RSK the effectiveness of combined vaccine was 2 times higher in comparison with the effectiveness of noncombined typhus vaccine E. (Author)
