ON OVERALL BUCKLING OF VESSELS COMPOSED OF COMBINATIONS OF CYLINDRICAL AND SPHERICAL SHELLS.

Abstract

The objective is the determination of the overall buckling load of submerged vessels consisting of combinations of spherical and cylindrical shells. The overall buckling load does not depend substantially on bending effects, such that membrane equations suffice for the purpose of overall buckling. The appropriate differential equations and continuity conditions are derived from the principle of stationary potential energy. (Author)
