FUNCTION APPROXIMATION BY A POLYGONAL CURVE,

Abstract

A dynamic programming formulation of least squares approximation of a function by continuous, piecewise linear functions is presented. Computation results include the determination of slopes and break points of the polygonal approximating curve. The results are useful for function generation on analog and digital computers.
