Abstract

The future of science is discussed in terms of (1) the size of the scientific establishment; (2) attitudes toward the future; (3) changes in research methods; (4) new forms of procedures: conferences; research-computer symbiosis; interdisciplinary teams; university reform; publications; and the popularization of science; (5) future developments and breakthroughs.
