INFRARED COATING STUDIES.

Abstract

Research was carried out on coating materials for the far infrared. Films of TlBr and TlF were prepared and evaluated. Silicon and germanium were evaluated as substrate materials for the infrared to 40 microns. Measured curves of reflectance and transmittance are presented. The results of single layer anti-reflection coatings for these substrates are also given. Low frequency pass filters constructed and measured transmittance curves are presented. Two bandpass filter designs of the twin cavity all-dielectric type are also described. Maximum transmittance near 32 microns was obtained.
