STUDIES WITH RATS I. BRAIN MECHANISM IN FEAR SUPPRESSION. II. COMPLEXITY AND STIMULUS CHOICE. III. ACQUISITION LATENCY AND EXCITATION IN CLASSICAL CONDITIONING.
Abstract
Both male and female rats were used to investigate the effects of positive and negative subcortical stimulation on a conditioned escape task. The study utilized (1) non-contingent stimulation and (2) stimulation during extinction. Studies were made to test the 'Theory of Choice' and to investigate horizontal and vertical line preferences in the rat using a simple T-maze. A pilot study was also made in an attempt to furnish some basic data to determine a feasible acquisition criterion in animal escape learning. (Author)
