STRESSES FROM STRAINS ON WOVEN-ROVING, FIBER-GLASS-REINFORCED PLASTIC.

Abstract

Stress-strain relationships were developed to permit changing strain-gage readings taken on loaded woven-roving, fiber-glass-reinforced plastic. The reinforced-plastic laminate is one in which the mechanical properties vary with direction and cannot be considered constant in the standard strain-gage rosette equations. The equations developed permit a simple solution of stresses for materials whose directional properties do not vary drastically. (Author)
