EXTENSION OF ATLAS TECHNIQUES BY ADP.
Abstract
During this era of the Computer Revolution and rapid information retrieval, the problems of meeting the users' requirements in regard to marine environmental information are undergoing fundamental changes. The planning of Naval operations requires that detailed environmental characteristics be provided on short notice. The requirements imposed on this Office for this type of data are generally neither suitable nor practical in a small scale, hard copy atlas format. The purpose of this IR is to serve as an introduction to a series of IRs on each of the primary oceanographic disciplines defining problems and recommendations for adapting to automatic data processing methods at NAVOCEANO.
