WIDE-ANGLE INTERNAL DEFLECTION STRUCTURES OF CATHODE-RAY TUBES.

Abstract

A test gun is described which incorporates two-dimensional lens elements and allows dynamic deflection defocusing correction. Test results are given and conclusions are drawn leading toward the design of a gun capable of achieving the desired degree of reduction of deflection defocusing effects. Furthermore, two special electrostatic deflection systems are described for producing a rotationally symmetrical spot distortion, thus requiring dynamic correction of the rotational symmetrical electron lens only; this obviates the need for two-dimensional lenses. However, this method is feasible only for deflection in one direction. (Author)
