THE EVALUATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL FILMS BY A TRAINED PANEL USING A FILM ANALYSIS FORM.

Abstract

Film evaluation forms have been used for the selection of films and evaluation of their suitability for training. Evaluation of a film after it has been produced and distributed usually cannot result in its modification. The purpose of this research was to develop a film appraisal form incorporating important variables discovered in the instructional film research program which could be used for pre-production or pre-release evaluation of films. As a result of the research: (1) A film analysis form was developed for use by trained film production personnel. (2) A trainee film evaluation form was developed for evaluation by trainees while the film is in the final production stages. (3) A high degree of correspondence was obtained between the prediction of the teaching effectiveness obtained with the two forms. (Author)
