ISOMER COUNTS FOR POLYNUCLEAR COORDINATION COMPOUNDS.

Abstract

Application of symmetry concepts to a complete enumeration of all the possible permutations for a particular formulation is the basis for determining the expected number of isomers for polynuclear coordination compounds. Isomer counts are reported for several binuclear coordination compounds based on octahedral centers. Although compounds containing bidentate ligands cannot be handled in the symbolic system employed, isomer counts can be made for them by systematic elimination from an enumeration of all possible permutations.
