A LINEARIZED SOLUTION OF THE CONSTANT-PRESSURE COMPRESSIBLE FAR WAKE.

Abstract

The report describes the numerical solution of the linearized differential equations governing compressible axisymmetric laminar wake flows. Starting with experimentally determined initial profiles slightly downstream of the rear stagnation point, profiles of velocity and enthalpy were computed for the entire downstream wake. Comparison with the measured values showed very good agreement, the maximum error between theory and experiment being always less than 10 percent. (Author)
