SELECTIVE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION (SDI). VOLUME 2. IMPLEMENTATION MANUAL

Abstract

The document is a manual and set of guidelines for implementing and operating a replica of a prototype SDI system tested at U. S. Army Natick Laboratories. It supplies information which is especially useful in the initial stages of implementation. It discusses the application of specific criteria for selecting an initial set of participants in the SDI program and gives guidelines for analyzing document input, indexing vocabulary and internally and externally produced machine-readable records that might be used as preferential or additional input. Two sections of the manual are devoted to giving specific directions to library and data processing personnel which are necessary for operation of the SDI system.
