THE REFUGEE SITUATION IN PHU-YEN PROVINCE, VIET-NAM (ABRIDGED VERSION).

Abstract

The principal findings of a field study of the refugee situation in Phu-Yen Province, Viet-Nam, are summarized. Based upon interview data collected in mid-1966 from a 12% sample (1, 193 interviews with refugee heads-of-household), the report describes the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the refugee population, their pattern of migration and the causes of their movement. Problems of refugee relief and resettlement are described and the implications of refugee movement for the pacification effort of the Government of Viet-Nam are discussed. (Author)
