SUMMARY OF THE GENERAL HYDROLOGY OF THE MEKONG DELTA.

Abstract

The Mekong Delta is composed of major streams, their distributaries, and numerous short tidal streams. Smaller streams, canals and ditches, and large areas of marsh and swamp modify the major stream pattern. Large tidal fluctuation as well as seasonal inundation further complicate the problem of obtaining reliable and timely environmental data. To the extent that it is possible, this report briefly summarizes the climate, tides, currents, and vertical control of the Mekong Delta.
