STIMULATED EMISSION FROM THE UPPER HYBRID RESONANCE IN A MAGNETOPLASMA.

Abstract

The report describes the first observations of coherent emission from the upper hybrid resonance of a magnetoplasma, and the measurement of the frequency of this resonance as a function of electron density. The technique reported constitutes a new and useful means for the study of collective phenomena in magnetoplasmas and may also serve as an accurate means for the direct measurement of electron density in such plasmas.
