AVERAGED EQUATIONS FOR THE SLOW OSCILLATORY MOTION OF A SPINNING SHELL.

Abstract

The complete equations of motion of a spin-stabilized projectile are simplified by an approximation which averages out the fast nutational oscillation, but preserves the slow oscillatory behavior. It is shown by numerical calculations in a few examples that the resulting system predicts very well many details of the motion. (Author)
