AN AIR-LAYABLE CARRIER FREQUENCY CABLE FOR MOBILE WARFARE,
Abstract
A cable was developed which is similar in size, weight, flexibility, and handling properties to World War II field wire WllOB. The cable can be compared with Spiral-Four cable developed 10 years ago, however, a four fold increase in channel capacity is achieved and at the same time, the weight and cost are cut in half. This cable gives the user the new capability of airlaying cable circuits across impassable, contaminated or enemy controlled terrain at speeds up to 100 MPH. This means, for example, a 10-mile cable circuit complete with unattended repeaters can be installed in less than 10 minutes. (Author)
