PLASTIC AERIAL CABLE CONSTRUCTION,

Abstract

Plastic cables should be given the same careful consideration and treatment that we have given lead cable over the past years. It was not originally meant to be self-supporting nor was it intended to be used in a haphazard manner; but since there was a critical shortage of lead for the manufacture of cable sheath, a substitute had to be found, and as in many cases, this particular substitute has shown some qualities which have very distinct advantages over the original article. Two of these superior qualities are its light weight and its ease of handling in aerial cable construction.
