ABLATIVE LIGHT SOURCES.

Abstract

Electrical and optical properties of ablative light sources are discussed. For the range of parameters studied the observed light emission depends mainly on the pressure developed during the discharge which itself is proportional to energy delivered to the lamp. Mechanical and electrical characteristics combined with optical properties comparable to commercial flash tubes should permit useful technical applications. (Author)
