EARTH CONVERAGE FROM A CIRCULARLY SYMMETRIC SHAPED-BEAM ANTENNA ON A SYNCHRONOUS SATELLITE

Abstract

Calculations were made to show the earth illumination from circularly symmetric antennas on synchronous satellites. The antenna directive gain is calculated as a function of antenna size, beam shape, intended beam pointing direction, error in the pointing direction, and the fraction of the earth surface illuminated.
