RESEARCH IN ATOMIC AND MOLECULAR PROPERTIES BY THE MOLECULAR BEAM METHOD.

Abstract

The results of a program of research in atomic and molecular physics by the molecular-beam method are briefly summarized. Work was done on the study of hyperfine structure in several metastable atomic states, on a critical study of the hyperfine structure of indium, and on the hyperfine structure of a short-lived isotope of oxygen. The process of the production of metastable hydrogen atoms was investigated. Several investigations of hyperfine structures of atoms by optical-pumping and level-crossing techniques are reported. Publications resulting from the work are listed.
