APPLICATION OF THE ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE TO MADIC DATA,

Abstract

Mean noise levels of machinery noise data are dependent on several factors. Analysis-of-variance procedures are useful in determining which, if any, of the factors are of prime importance in causing significant deviations from the over-all mean level. This report describes how these procedures can be used as an aid in analyzing the data in the Machinery Acoustic Data Information Center (MADIC). An example which makes use of a computer program written in the COBOL language that has been developed for this purpose is demonstrated. (Author)
