COMPUTATION OF EXIT-FLOW AND OVER-FLOW COEFFICIENTS,

Abstract

The theory of fluid jets founded by Helmholtz can be applied to the computation of the technically important exit-flow coefficients. A complete analysis leads to numerical results which well agree with the findings of experiments. The most useful results concern the topics as follows: Symmetrical orifice in a horizontal plane; lateral orifice in an infinite wall oriented at right angles to the exit flow; the effects of assymmetry; simultaneous exit from a bottom and lateral opening; perfect, straight overflow.
