EVALUATION OF IMPROVED T-39 BRAKE, GOODYEAR P/N 9550338.
Abstract
OONR reported the T-39 organic brake, P/N 9541626, wear life of 35-40 landings was unsatisfactory. OONER proposed an improved design tri-metallic brake, P/N 9550338, for the T-39. To allow early evaluation, prototypes of the proposed brakes were utilized to obtain an estimation of service life improvement. The prototype brake, P/N 5E5-124, lasted for 486 landings, before the wearout limit was obtained. Two production brakes P/N 9550338 were then available. The production brakes were tested and 517 landings were obtained before removal for wear. (Author)
