PROPOSAL FOR THE ELECTRIC MOTOR REPAIR FACILITY IN SUBMARINE TENDERS AS-36 AND AS-37.

Abstract

Optimum repair and overhaul of the high-precision, quiet-running motors in submarine service, to achieve satisfactory performance and reliability, require adequate technical information, tools, and facilities. It is proposed that the Electrical Repair Shop in two new submarine tenders be revised to separate the functions which generate dirt and debris from the operations which require a clean environment. Further, it is proposed that special purpose tools, precision measurement capabilities, and detailed instructions in the format of illustrated text books be added to the presently assigned equipment for the shop.
