TOTAL ATMOSPHERIC WATER VAPOR ALOFT OVER THE GREAT LAKES BASIN.

Abstract

Monthly isoline charts (January-December) are used to indicate the total atmospheric water vapor distribution over the Great Lakes. Empirical equations were derived relating surface dew point to water vapor aloft using observations at three radiosonde stations in the basin. The isoline charts were constructed from data obtained at the three radiosonde stations supplemented by additional values estimated from the equations at 29 stations reporting only surface dew point.
