AN ANALYSIS OF THE BIAS AND PRECISION ESTIMATES OF TRAJECTORY MEASURING SYSTEMS (OPERATION PRECISE ROUND NUMBER 4).

Abstract

The report presents an analysis of the bias and precision of three major range instrumentation tracking systems; the Askania cinetheodolite system, the Contraves cinetheodolite system, and the AN/FPS-16 Radar system. Four flight tests have been conducted at White Sands Missile Range under a program called Operation Precise. The major portion of this report is devoted to analysis of data from the fourth flight test (Round No. 4). Information presented includes precision and bias estimates for trajectory position, velocity, acceleration, and trajectory angle data from the specified tracking systems. Normal data reduction techniques were used. The methods of analysis are discussed in detail. (Author)
