CONVERGENCE OF THE VON ZEIPEL PROCEDURE,

Abstract

Although it has long been realized that the von Zeipel procedure is an accurate method for solving problems in celestial mechanics, no mathematical proofs have been available to show that it actually converged. Recently such proofs have been given by Arnol'd and Barrar. The present paper is devoted to still another proof, much simpler than those previously given. The proof is based on a suggestion of A. N. Kolmogorov in the 1954 Doklady. (Author)
